Yesterday I discussed a little bit about this wonderful herb Echinacea. It is actually also a beautiful flower that comes in different colors and can brighten up your garden. There are ten different species from which about 35 different varieties of coneflower are available today.
In supplement form Echinacea Angustfolia. Echinacea Pallida, and Echinacea Purpurea are used the most.
According to VeryWellHealth.com this purple cone flower has been used as a remedy for conditions such as toothaches, stomach pain, snake bites, skin disorders, chronic arthritis, and in the fight against different cancers.
It is interesting to note that Echinacea’s major effect on the immune system is its stimulation of white blood cell production. This in turn helps to purify the blood, and protect us from infections.
I always suggest that echinacea is more an “immune BOOSTER”, kinda like kicking our immune system into gear; whereas other herbs, such as Astragalus, are more into BUILDING the immune system.
There are abundant reports about people suffering from conditions such as Candida, staph-infections, bronchitis, strep-throat, skin problems, and hard to heal wounds, both internal and external, showed healing success rates often in the 90% range!
However, the literature indicates that Echinacea may be ineffective, even harmful, in autoimmune disorders like M.S., AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Diabetes Mellitus. So, please use extra caution for those of you who suffer from these.
Perhaps use a lower potency?
Or use it over shorter durations?
Or perhaps look into other immune enhancing herbs, such as Cat’s Claw, Reishi Mushrooms, or the earlier mentioned Astragalus.
