Garlic - The Stinkin' Rose

Your Daily Health Pearl Minute # 34
Almost everyone knows that garlic is known as a healthy herbal supplement …though, of course, it is technically a food!
Health benefits of the “Stinking Rose” have been described for over 5000 years and have been relegated to folklore status. Today there is mounting scientific evidence that garlic is indeed a “super food”!!
The health benefits of garlic fall into such categories as cardiovascular, cholesterol reducing, antifungal, antimicrobial, and also immune stimulating.
When we had an earache my Mom would always put a drop of warm garlic oil in our ear and cover that with a small cotton ball. Next morning we would feel a lot better!
Along with the renewed popularity of garlic there is also more confusion in the health market about which forms of garlic to take.
The big stink is whether we are better off taking garlic products with or without the sulphur-compound Allicin.
Proponents say it is the only thing that makes garlic work. Allicin is what makes freshly crushed garlic so burning and make it such strong medicine.
Opponents claim that allicin works inside the test tubes but has no effect inside the human body. In fact it cannot be detected in the blood after it has gone through the intestines.
The bottom line is that fresh garlic cloves are still the most effective form followed by dried garlic powder products.
By the way, an uncomfortable garlic odor can be neutralized by eating parsley, watercress, or aromatic seeds such as Anise seeds.
Moreover, may the Garlic Force be with you!
