Self-Care - Health Care

Your Daily Health Pearl Minute # 11
I myself have had my own instances of illness, injury, or collapse where my body was done being pushed to the limit; it wanted me to stop and take a break.
Most of us have experienced stressful periods at work, within relationships, perhaps regarding financial struggles, or with chronic illness of a child or loved-one. Somehow we are able to plow through when we’re in the middle of it. But often, when we move into calmer waters, we feel exhausted or become sick.
With any ache, allergy, bowel problem, mood swing, skin eruption, stiffness, or stress, our body is communicating with us. The message is we’re out of balance, or need to get rid of something.
Somehow we panic when that happens and we try to overcome this nuisance as quickly as possible, often grabbing over-the-counter medications or we seek a doctor’s help. There is no need to panic right away. I’ve learned that specific SYMPTOMS are not the same as an actual DISEASE!
In contrast to other civilized countries, when it comes to HEALTH CARE, Americans spend only 10% of every healthcare dollar on preventative and alternative medicine, while 90% goes to doctors and prescription drugs.
This could be avoided if we would listen to our own bodies better and use the elements Mother Nature provides us with to feel healthy quicker and longer. This way antibiotics, aspirin, and antidepressants could become a last resort… not a first.
