Are Antidepressants Driving Us Crazy?
By Jacobus Hollewijn

Discussing the topic of depression is, in my opinion, very similar to talking about cancer:
Certain medical professional will say: WHO ARE YOU TO TALK ABOUT THIS TOPIC? WHAT ARE YOUR CREDENTIALS?
So, in other words, SHUT-UP! Let the professionals in the room handle this!
However, after decades of ongoing research, cancer is still the #2 cause of death in this country. Likewise, way too MANY people are taking prescription antidepressants.
Too many STAY on antidepressants long-term, often for the wrong reasons.
Too many YOUNG people are prescribed antidepressants simply based on symptoms, NOT based on digging for the root cause of the emotional upheavals, such as stressful home lives, peer-pressure in school, social media expectations, as well as consequential cyber-bullying.
On the other hand, NATURAL options for anxiety and depression are ridiculed by these “professionals in the room,” in stead of them doing research on their successful studies and low side effects.
Are medical interventions for mental health really all about the suffering and desperation of the individual and their surrounding loved-ones? Or, are physicians just following protocols as dictated in their manuals?
Depression affects the “whole” person not just the brain. So, get to know the person across the desk.
Is it possible that the “diagnosis” of depression is caused by the person GRIEVING from the loss of someone dear, or from sudden shocking news.
Is the individual suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder? Perhaps from hormonal imbalances? Or from chronic pain?
I believe we have to rethink this craziness of over-prescribing antidepressants!
