My worry about over-prescribing antidepressants has been longstanding. Is it really about money and kickbacks, or are doctors really that gifted that they understand the human mind better than the individual with the actual emotional instability? What's behind the mental pain? What's the story? The abuse? The grief? The self-esteem issue? You name it; there are many options that don't need an antidepressant. They need a professional listening ear, encouragements, a plan and a strategy.
