Antidepressants Are Becoming a Problem

During the next several days, I would like to talk with you about depression and its related problems.
The variety of anti-depressants prescribed today, such as PROZAC, Elavil, Effexor, Nardil and Zoloft among others, are proof of the complexity of this silent emotional disorder.
Typical symptoms of depression include: anxiety, nervous exhaustion, decrease in physical performance and strength, hormonal fluctuations, lack of motivation, loss of appetite, sleep disturbance, depressive mood, pressure on the chest, inability to pursue work, feelings of inner worthlessness, and others…
Sadly, our mental health problem is increasing. Numbers are based on people we KNOW who are taking antidepressants; but how about those who self-medicate without the knowledge of a physician?
An article I found from December of 2006 talks about 190 million prescriptions being dispensed in the United States.
As far as actual people getting an antidepressant: in 2018 that number was 37.3 million, and in 2023 it was 12.7% of our population, which would make it 42 million people.
A very big worry for me is the increased amount of YOUNG people who are put on them and the struggles they are fighting from their side effects.
There has been an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior in patients between 18 and 24. The school shut-downs during the recent COVID years sure didn’t help with thàt issue!
Luckily, there are proven and successful natural remedies that may give you healing options without the doom-and-gloom!
